Op de Wissel
Maandag 22 maart, 16.15 uur, zal mede NVAS–lid Ria Reis (UvA), haar oratie houden. Zij wordt hoogleraar medische antropologie, in het bijzonder antropologie in public health, bij het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum.

Prof. Leo de Haan neemt afscheid als directeur van het Afrika–Studiecentrum (ASC) en als hoogleraar ontwikkeling in sub–Sahara Afrika van de Universiteit Leiden. Per 1 mei wordt hij Rector van het Institute of Social Studies in Den Haag. Leo de Haan zal worden opgevolgd door Prof. Ton Dietz, nu nog wetenschappelijk directeur van het Amsterdam Institute of Metropolitan and International Development Studies (UvA).
Op maandag 12 april 2010, 16.00uur zal hij een afscheidsrede houden over Afrika en Afrikastudies in het Academiegebouw, Rapenburg 73, Leiden. De afscheidsrede wordt gehouden in het Nederlands. Een Engelse vertaling wordt uitgereikt. Tijdens de receptie na afloop kunt u afscheid nemen van Leo de Haan en kennismaken met zijn opvolger Ton Dietz.

Prof. Leo de Haan is stepping down as Director of the African Studies Centre (ASC) and as Professor of Development in Sub–Saharan Africa at Leiden University to become Rector of the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. On Monday 12 April 2010 at 16:00hrs he will give a farewell lecture at the Academiegebouw, Rapenburg 73, Leiden. As of 1 May 2010, Prof. Ton Dietz, who is currently the Scientific Director of the Amsterdam Institute of Metropolitan and International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam, will be the ASC’s new Director. Prof. de Haan’s lecture will be given in Dutch but an English translation will be available on the day. There will be an opportunity to say farewell to Prof. de Haan in person afterwards and also to meet Prof. Dietz.
